Front Porch

As I have mentioned previously, we decided to add on to the front of our house. Last year we added an addition and a new deck on to the back of the house and this year we decided to work on the front of the house. It's been a long project as it started back in August and is just getting wrapped up now. But it's been a great experience and we are starting to LOVE our entryway.

Our previous entryway was super small, I mean like 5' by 3' small. If 2 people tried to put shoes on at the same time they were constantly bumping each other and falling over, plus our exterior entrance wasn't anything special. So Matt came up with a really cool remodel idea and we got going. First Matt and I had to clear out the shrubs in the front of the house:

Then the builders could get going on the porch:

And Matt laid the flooring/decking and built the railings

and the retaining wall

And here is our "before" and "after" picture. We LOVE the new entryway and having a porch, it is great for getting out of the rain/snow when you're trying to get in the door.

There have been tons of changes to the inside of the entryway and I'll write about that at another time.
